CATHY ALLEN
Founder & Artistic Director

CATHY ALLEN, Founder & Artistic Director, (M.A. in Dance Performance, Brigham Young University), has performed modern works by Doug Nielson, Gregg Bielimeier, Loretta Livingston, Martina Young, Malashock Dance and Company, Rudy Perez, Anna Nassif, and the Las Vegas Music and Dance Ensemble, as well as solo work. Allen performed in ‘Footloose” the 1984 movie, Las Vegas productions of “Lido de Paris” and “Jubilee,” Sundance Theatre in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” “Pippin” and “Satin Lady,” Lina Lamont in “Singin in the Rain,” TV commercials, and Las Vegas Convention Revues, and various print and runway modeling.   

 

Allen has received various awards throughout her career, including the Nevada State Council of the Arts Fellowship Award in 1994 and 2001, CSun Award for Teaching in 2012, and a National Dance Association Presidential Citation Award for her service as Dance Chair of the National APHERD Conference in Reno, Nevada.  Her choreography has been featured worldwide at Korean National Olympic University in Seoul, Korea, LIPA in Liverpool, England, SUNY at Buffalo in New York State, Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  She has presented work at numerous conferences and festivals in Kiel, Germany, “Dance and Gymnastics Festival,” “DaCi International Conference” in Saskatchewan, Regina Canada, and Netherlands DaCi Dance Conference, Arizona Jazz Dance Festival, and Fringe Festival in Scotland, and  Australia.  Allen has set original concerts premiering in New York City in collaboration with Harper Continuum Dance Theatre five years running.  Recently she has received various awards at the International Dance Competition-Hellas in Athens, Greece, for her group contemporary selection, solo, and duet pieces.
